Magic

That’s right, this is the first post since jesus was a carpenter! Indeed, blasphemy, a coffee at the coffee office and wearing a scarf when its a warm room truly does go hand in hand with writing pretentious posts!

Follow me and the crew as we document our Magic like adventures. Well I’ll have to ask them first and the permission of WotC but I’m sure it’ll roll.

The $500 Gaming PC – is it really possible?

Maximum PC and Game Central have built two very competent and cost effective machines.

The machines have the ability to play most popular games, and the benchmark that is Crysis, at a respectable 40fps. Continue reading ‘The $500 Gaming PC – is it really possible?’

If you are planning on upgrading or building a new PC this summer

In every PC user there lies a yearning for more performance.

Thus I bring you a few great articles from Tom’s Hardware, where they do some of the most comprehensive tests of PC hardware.

Leggy blonde

Wow…surprised that a Flight of the Conchords moment just happnened to me. One moment I’m sitting at Williams Coffee pub the next one I’m witnessing the leggiest blonde (she was at least 6 feet tall) sit at the table in front of me. We met glances, smile at each other and then continued with our respective work, was going to make an introduction 15 minutes later as I was on an engrossing portion of Glacial periods, and then boom she walked away. Got one smile and she was gone. Both funny and highly regretful, lol but thats life. Ohhh leggy blonde…

Ninety nine… One hundred… One hundred and one…

This is one of those ideas that comes to your head as you’re trying not to toss and turn in bed. One of those ideas that gets your brain’s gears cranking and grinding in the wee hours of the morning, when you really should be counting sheep or badgers or fairies or whatever helps you bore yourself into dreamland.

It pops into your head:

“I need to shoot my friends.”

With a camera. Of course. What were you thinking? I’m not a sociopath…

Speedier than a Speedlite

Well, today is a momentous day.

I signed my lease agreement officially once and for all – so as long as things stay good, my trips to Toronto in search of accomodation are finally bearing fruit, and I’ll have a roof over my head for the next four months after school is done.

Up until that point (and mostly just after exams are done), I’ll be able to enjoy the other momentous development of the day:

Pwn2Own contest leaves Chrome as only browser standing

The Pwn2Own competition is one that challenges people in the internet security business to find exploitable vulnerabilities.

The only browser left standing after the first day of the competition was Google’s Chrome browser which only recently came out of its beta phase. Many account Chrome’s success to the fact that every tab in the browser is sandboxed and so cannot interact with other tabs and other system processes.

Safari was fell victim to Charlie Miller within seconds of the competition starting. Firefox and IE fell later in the day.

Check out the indepth article at Arstechnica here.

Internet Explorer 8 out now

Internet Explorer 8 is finally out of beta and ready for download here.

It sports a few new features but my favorite thing is that it finally follows Internet standards! Woohoo to no more CSS hacks! Some of the new features are: smart address bar, grouping for tabs, private browsing (AKA incognito mode), and tab crash protection.
